The Factors That Determine Your Home Demolition Cost

Do you have a home demolition project in mind but you’re wary of the cost?

Too many demolition companies in Chicago refuse to provide their residential demolition rates. Instead, they’ll wait until they meet you and make up a quote on the spot.

We want you to know that you’re getting exactly what you pay for with Murray Demolition. This means that we’re completely upfront about the home demolition cost of our services.

The Cost of Home Demolition with Us

The total home demolition cost that you face depends on the scale of the work and the exact tasks that you ask us to complete. However, we can give you set prices for each type of home demolition task that we complete so you can get a good idea of how much you’ll spend before you even speak to one of our technicians.

Small Projects

We define small projects as the demolition of any structure that’s between 1,500 and 10,000 square feet in size. This typically covers small buildings and extensions, such as conservatories.

These jobs typically require full demolitions crews, but don’t take as long as the demolition of larger buildings. Moreover, our exact rate depends on the complexity of the project. For example, you’ll pay more if you want both a structure and its foundations demolished.

Our Rate – Between $6 and $15 per square foot of demolition work.

Large Projects

Our home demolition cost changes for larger projects. We class a large project as any structure that covers 10,000 square feet of space or more. For example, demolishing an entire house will usually be classed as a large project, as would demolishing an apartment block.

Again, such jobs usually require a full crew. They’ll often work for several days, or even weeks, depending on the scale of the job. The cost also varies depending on the complexity of the job.

Our Rate – Between $2 and $7 per square foot of demolition work.

Disconnecting Gas

Gas presents a major problem during demolitions projects. Failure to disconnect it can lead to gas leaks. If the gas ignites, it places every single person on the site at risk. At worst, a gas leak can lead to an explosion.

We’ll either speak to your provider to get the gas disconnected or use special tools to do it ourselves. It’s an essential step that comes at its own cost.

Our Rate – $750

Asbestos Removal

Asbestos is a dangerous material that was used in many old buildings. Demolitions work often uncovers the material, which is made up of tightly packed fibers. If you inhale these fibers, you place yourself at risk of developing a range of breathing problems. Moreover, asbestos is linked to mesothelioma, which is a type of cancer.

Removal of asbestos requires special training and equipment. Luckily, not all properties have it.

Our Rate – $600

Demolition Permits

You can’t go ahead with any demolition work if you don’t have the correct permits. Our team can help you secure the permits that you need to ensure the project stays above board.

Our Rate – $2000
